This was actually fun!

Comment on this post and I'll give you a band/music artist. Don't worry, I'll make it one you know and love. You put your ten favorite songs by that band on your buzznet, then challenge others to do the same.

I'm doing this on more than one band, cos I wannaaaaaa!

First is Fall Out Boy!

1. Hand of God
I listened to this song for awhile and I was like "whatever" cos Patrick has the worst diction- EVER! Then one day i looked up the lyrics and fell in love with Pete's melancholy way of talking shit about the people who talk shit on him. So which is it, the boy who writes the songs or the boy who's in them? Is it gossip? Is it truth? Or is he writing fiction? SUCK IT, HATERS!

2. I've Got All This Ringing in my Ears and None on my Fingers.
The moment I bought Infinity on High and the notes to this song hit my ears, I melted into a giant puddle. From the piano intro, to the drums, to the horns to the whiny guitar to finally Patrick sing "ba ba ba ba ba ba," along with the guitar, it was love. And the truth of the lyrics is undeniable. The truth hurts worse then anything I could bring myself to do to you.

3. Chicago is So Two Years Ago
I just plain and simple love this song. Fall Out Boy is probably the only band in my world that the lyrics make the song and not the other way around like it usually is with me. Of course this shit is no different. Obviously, this song was about Janae-nae but who the fuck cares. my heart is on my sleeve, wear it like a bruise or blackeye. My badge, my witness.

4. Pretty in Punk
The lyrics to this song are pretty shit and juvenile and yes, I know P$ wrote it. But what I do love about this song is the rawness. It's only ever been on Evening Out with your Girlfriend (unlike Calm Before the Storm which was ruined by its remaking, imo) and its perfect in its imperfection. Patrick's voice sounds like it's about to give out towards the end when he's practically yelling "I"M NOT THE WAY YOU THINK I AM! NO! NO!" and it's glorious. Andy wasn't the drummer at this point and I love the drums on this for how sloppy and ear splittingly loud they become on the chorus. I'm too terrified and would you mind if I sat next to you and watched you smile?

5. I've Got a Dark Alley and Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth
First of all, we ALL know what this song was written about, obviously. But this is one of the only songs that no matter how often I listen to it- I cry. When I feel like breaking down and no one will help me I bring out this song, crying, realizing that life will get better. I'm hopelessly hopeful, you're just hopeless enough

6. The (After) Life of the Party
I'm a stitch away from making it and a scar away from falling apart. There isn't really anything about this song I dislike. The lyrics are perfect, Patrick's voice is clear, meaningful and powerful. This is one of the few songs where I believe Patrick is singing something he truly believes, something the band believes. Put love on hold, young hollywood is on the other line . Tell me the entire band doesn't feel that some sentiment? I feel moved when i hear this song, I feel touched when I hear this song, I feel alive when Patrick sings that chorus for a final time.

7. XO
Everytime I hear this song, I HAVE to dance in my seat, bang my head and loose my mind. I fucking love this shit! Live it's even better, you better believe I dance my ass off. To the love I left my conscious pressed between the pages of the bible in the drawer, what did it ever do for me?

8. GISASFS
cos I love to belt at the top of my lungs: I'VE LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU THAT HURTS SO LET ME SEE YOUR MOVES, LET ME SEE YOUR MOVES! LIPS PRESSED CLOSE TO MINE TRUE BLUUUUUUUUUUE! and also every other line in this song is kind of awesome and i flat out adore the crunchy guitars.

9. Love Will Tear Us Apart
Ok, I realize this is a remake, but I honestly hate the original, too 80's for me. But Andy in this song blows my mind! I don't know what it is about his drum rolls but they set this song apart. He really doesnt get enough credit for just how good of a musician he really is. He's too busy being sullen, quiet and vegan. eat a cheeseburger- you'll feel better.

Oh geez last song! Hmmm...I could keep going!

10. Snitches and Talkers Get Stitches and Walkers
This song just rocks out loud without being sympathetic in the least. Patrick sounds angry and raw, stuttering and nearly screaming out. It's complemented well the Pete's guttural heys! and then the yelling before the music bridge before the last bought of being told this story's getting old and really, listening to the lyrics makes you think that old!Pete would yell every word of this out loud to New!Pete and tell him to stop being a hypocrite. Hahaha, that would be perfect.

Here's some Say Anything!

1. Dreaming of Manhattan
Most of the SA songs I enjoy the most are older, you know from when Max was love sick and the band was a two peice. A guitar and some drums. This song just weeps of missing someone and longing for that perfect life together which I can relate too oh so well. i always picture Max almost singing this through clenched teeth he hurts so bad. dreaming of manhattan dreaming of where we are so in love. i could make you oh so, oh so happy

2. Signal the Rifleman
This song is pretty fucking epic and every kid who has ever had a bad day can totally relate. Wanting to just cause a rebellion, jump up and down, scream and trash everything in your path. This song yells out loud for freedom from rules and restrictions. It's also heavily sexually undertoned and is sang with the perfect amount of rage and lust that really on Bemis can pull off. All I need is your love and a revolution

3. A Walk Through Hell
How amazing is this song? If I ever wanted a boyfriend to sit with a guitar and play a song for me- this would be the one. Loving without boundaries, a willingness to do anything to get to your love and hold onto it for dear life even if that means giving up your own. I'd walk through hell for you what's an adventurer to do but rest these feet at home with you?

4. It's A Metphor, Fool!
If Max can do one thing well, it's write a song about how much you hate someone. I don't know what this person did to deserve this song but holy shit, don't get on this guy's bad side. He'll tear you a new one and then throw salt on your open wound. It starts out all pretty with the acoustic then comes crunching and banging in yelling "all you are to me it dead skin."

5. Shiska (Girlfriend)
Say Anything is perfect at writing that love song that almost is a song about the distances you would go prove such a love. For as angry as Max can seem, he's obviously the most twistedly romantic man at heart. The perfect thing about Shiska is how beautiful and angry it is at the same time. Even if you suck me til I'm sore, no matter what I'd bleed to be your whore but on the same token Even if your whisper eats my ear, your voice will be the only song I long to hear Beautiful, if but fucked up.

6. An Insult to the Dead
This song is amazing because it's extremely powerful without needed the sound to back it up. It's simple on its verses with just the acoustic to back it up, until the end when the percussion bangs in so perfectly. A song about hating how much you hate yourself when what you do hurts everyone around you and how that makes you feel six feet under when you should really appriciate that you are, in fact, alive. Essentially the song is about cheating on someone, but I take a much deeper feeling from that superfical point. I could be more than this, with all the time I had, I am an insult to the dead

7. People like you are the reason people like me exist
Then Say Anything turns around and tossing you this number about appriciating the fact that to do feel and to hell what all the negative people in your life may say about what exactly you are feeling. Choosing your friends wisely and never stop believing in you. people like you are the reason why people like me defy your lies, so here's your kiss goodbye

8. Woe
How did someone even come up with this song? I'm always in awe of Max's sheer power and anger and everything, yet he loves everything all at the same time. I'm sure its something only people who that fucked up can manage to feel. And this song probably has the most theraputic lyrics any bipolar kid can muster up during his up days reflecting on his down days. go sob in your bed if life is twice as pretty when you're dead. So send me a card, i'm still the opptimist thought it is hard when all you want to be is in a dream And this song always leaves me in awe of it. How is starts out all slow, silly and pretty before it speeds and explodes with the angry second verse before it slows down again and end on a pretty thought and a smattering of "la la la..."

9. I Am a Translyvanian
Holy shit is this song so sexual. The beggining is simply hauting before it gets angry, raw and full of unbridled lust for the most gorgeous person you can think up. It's about knowing what you're doing with this person is wrong and about that person should know that all there is to you is the night and this moment. The end of the song, Max belts out the chorus before prettily telling you don't go getting your hopes up before yelling out once more as the song slows into distorted drums and simply fades out.

10. Spidersong
This is the first song by Say Anything that made me fall in love with this band once and for all. I bought ...is a real boy on the recommedation of this kid Jordan and I was not dissppointed and my love affair with SA only grew. The guitars in this song are angry, Max's voice is perfect and you can just tell that this band love playing and singing together. The chorus is ruckus and real and you can almost understand the song instantly- SA are getting totally and completely under your skin! are you smart enough and small enough to play this game? and it ends perfectly telling you, I'm interested, but I'm not going to fight for you, I'll just wait for you to come and get me. I am cold, too cool to call you far to stoned to leave my bed, I'll write this song to win your kiss but stay asleep instead. A perfect summation of my love affair with the one of a kind band with their one of kind lead singer.

tomorrow- Hanson, The Moffatts, The Who
