"Need" Part Seven: You're all I've got

Part Seven: You're all I've got

I'm not a saint
I'm just a man

As Kayli drove home, she was distracted by the ring fracturing light off of her finger, she smiled at the thought of it but the more she drove and the more she thought, the more she realized that she couldn’t do this. She couldn’t live like this, she couldn’t marry in so much secrecy, she just couldn’t.

Kayli had never been good with relationships. She always seemed to find the biggest losers. She had gotten herself into one too many abusive relationships and then just stopped dating all together. All through out college she never did the things the other girls were doing. She kept to herself and did her work, rarely partying and never dating. She concentrated on herself and while it ultimately left her lonely, she rather that then feel the pain relationships brought.

It wasn’t until after graduation that she tried dating again. She dated a guy from a distance, thinking it was safer to be away from him more than she was with him. She joined her first tour and let this man up to his own defenses, trusting him with all she had, but he only ended up hurting her, cheating when she couldn’t see. That left Kayli only with desperation, which was when she met Pete. The night he heard her yelling at this guy was the night she decided she couldn’t take much more. What had led her to sleeping with Pete was a strange mixture of the desperation and her own need for someone else’s touch. She wanted someone to tell her she was special and important. The strange thing was that Pete seemed to tell her volumes just the way he looked at her. After they had slept together, he wouldn’t stop staring at her, sneaking glances her way when she was reaching as her shirt rode up, watching her every move and when he stopped looking, she began feeling tense. The desire she had for anyone to tell her she was beautiful was fulfilled with those looks and the craving only mounted when he stopped.

Noticing she was sobbing now, she pulled over and parked her car. She didn’t want it to be like this. She had finally found the love she always knew she deserved having and she could tell no one. Her friends were sure by now that she was going to be alone for the rest of her life and she wanted nothing more than to run home and shove her ring in their faces and yell “Ha! I’m engaged!” but she couldn’t. She couldn’t even tell her parents that she finally on her way to giving them grandkids. Then the thought occurred to her: there was no way Pete was happy either…

Kayli got home and showered, her mind never leaving Pete. She wished they were showering together right now, so when they were down they could lay naked in his bed and make love again. She wished he didn’t have so many friends so they could be alone for a while. She wished he wasn’t who he was so they could just be.

The next day, Kayli pulled up to her parent’s house, smiling as her mom charged at her in the driveway.

“Kayli! I’ve missed you honey! How’s the road? Meet any boys?” Kayli laughed slightly, wanting nothing more than to scream “I’m engaged!” but just shook her head.

“The road is fine and no, I don’t really like to mix business with pleasure,” she said, grabbing her bag out of the backseat. Her mom sighed.

“Well, come in! Dinner is all ready…”

“Kayli, remember that boy Roger you went to prom with?” Her mom brought up ever so casually while they were washing dishes. Kayli grabbed the plate and dried it, sighing.

“Yes, what about him?” Kayli knew exactly what about him, and honestly she didn’t want to hear her mother’s desperation for her to date someone, but let it slide to keep her own secret.

“He just moved back to town…you should see him. So handsome and he just graduated from Yale Law at the top of his class. He’s being offered jobs left and right. He’s a real catch, K,” her mother finished. Kayli shuddered slightly. She thought about Pete, the tattoos that covered almost every inch of his arms, his jeans, his hoodies, and his Converses. Then she thought about what Roger must look like. Tan skin, khakis, oxfords and Reeboks. She shuddered again.

“Mom, I’m not sure he’s…” she began. Her mother put her hand up.

“He’s really looking forward to seeing you again. I told him you’ve only gotten more beautiful since high school, baby.” Kayli sat the damp rag down and stared at her mother. Was she serious?

“Mom, I can’t go on a date with this guy. Why did you do this?”

“Why not? Is there a boyfriend you’re not telling me about?” Kayli felt her face flush; she hated lying to her mom. She thought about the diamond ring sitting in her glove box in her car and shook her head.

“No. I just…I’m not interested, okay? I really appreciate your help mom, I’m just not interested.” Her mother drained the water from the sink and looked at her curiously.

“At least meet him again. You don’t have to go on a date. I’m just sad that you are twenty four and still haven’t been in one serious relationship. It’s such a waste, you’re so beautiful, honey.” Kayli nodded and felt her stomach flip as her mom disappeared into the living room…

Kayli glanced at the clock still sitting in her bedroom from high school, and rubbed her eyes. Her brain wouldn’t shut off and she couldn’t sleep. She wanted to call Pete so bad just to hear his voice, but she didn’t know who he was with and couldn’t risk it. She grabbed her laptop off of the floor, deciding to check her mail and Live Journal. She subscribed to some Fall Out Boy communities merely because some of the stuff made her laugh and she would always tell them about what she found. Today, however, was different. She wasn’t laughing.

There, on her screen, was her fiancé, holding hands with a blond that certainly wasn’t Kayli, but rather…Ashlee.

“What the fuck…?” Kayli began; she clicked on the link to see a small story about Pete and Ashlee going grocery shopping together and being seen at some of the hottest nightclubs in LA. “No, no, no!” Kayli hissed to herself quietly. Without regards to the consequences, she picked up her cell phone and pressed her first speed dial.

“Now isn’t a good time,” Pete said. Kayli huffed.

“Now is a great time. Care to explain these pictures I’m seeing?” she said. Pete sighed.

“Baby, I swear, it isn’t what it looks like. I’ll explain it to you later. Now isn’t good. I love you,” and was followed by a dead line.

“It isn’t what it looks like? What the fuck?” She said, tossing her cell phone to the comforter. Annoyed and offended, Kayli shut her computer down, not wanting to see those images any longer. She felt like crying, but couldn’t, she was praying it really, honestly wasn’t what it looked like. But what was Pete doing and who was he with at three am that it wasn’t a good time….?

Two days later Kayli was back at her place and avoiding Pete’s phone calls, desperate texts and voicemails. She wanted him to look her in the eyes and tell her that she was seeing things, that he wasn’t lying. For the first time since they began their relationship, she really felt like she couldn’t trust him. She was always overhearing people on the crew talking about girls he was with, but she blew them off, he was allowed to have friends. Holding hands with some grade C pop star, however, was different; this was looking her right in the face.

After about five texts that said it was safe to come over and that he wanted to talk, Kayli slammed her car door shut and walked into his house, Hemmingway slid to a stop at her feet, wagging his tail over excitedly and slobbering on her arm. She pet him for a minute before making her way down the steps and taking a left into his office, closely followed by the dog. Pete’s music was so loud it was no wonder he didn’t hear her come in.

“Peter!” she yelled. He jumped and reached forward turning his music down.

“Shit, you scared me. Don’t do that,” he said, standing. Kayli crossed her arms defensively, she wasn’t happy with him at the moment. “You’ve been avoiding me.”

“I wanted to hear this story in person. I can’t wait,” she said, her sarcasm thick.

“It wasn’t my choice. You know that you are my only. You’re my fiancé and I’m just as mad as you are about it,” he said. Kayli cocked her head.

“Explain.” Hemmingway plopped down and watched Pete as he stepped closer to her.

“My publicist thought it would be a good idea for me to be seen around town, and the only way to get the most attention possible, is to have someone more famous than me at my side.” Kayli shook her head.

“You expect me to believe that Ashlee Simpson is a fucking career move?! Pete, where am I in all of this? What happens when someone finds out about us and then we both look stupid? I knew this was going to happen, shit.” Pete just stared at Kayli, he saw the hurt in her eyes and it only made everything worse.

“I feel so bad about this, you have no idea. I don’t want to hurt you but I don’t have much choice!”

“Don’t have a choice? Pete, you can tell them no!” Hemmingway was startled out of his nap by Kayli’s yelling, causing him to sit up straight, looking at her in wonder.

“No, I can’t, K! Why do you think I have a publicist? I can’t just say no!”

“Do you like her?”

“It’s just business”

“Answer the question!” Kayli then thought back to all the allegations of Pete and Ashlee as a couple as far back as last September, it was now August. She couldn’t believe she had been so stupid.

“She’s a friends and really nice girl, but she isn’t you. No one can take your place in my life!”

“Does she know about me?”

“No! Of course not.” Kayli sighed and closed her eyes.

“You should tell her.” Pete’s eyes widened at her statement.

“What?”

“Tell her. Tell her you’re engaged! Tell her about me!” Kayli yelled, the despair in her voice coming out clear and strong.

“I can’t do that.”

“Then forget it. You can take your ring and all your promises back! Shit, Pete! You fucking promised you wouldn’t hurt me like all the others.”

“I’m not! I can’t do anything about it, baby. Please stop over reacting.” Kayli felt like Pete just punched her in the stomach, she stared at him like a deer in headlights.

“Overreact? You want to marry me, but you are dating someone else! How could I possibly be overreacting right now?!”

“Giving back my ring, call off our wedding? That’s overreacting!” Kayli glared at him, she couldn’t believe he thought this was all acceptable. She walked up to him, pulling the diamond ring from her finger as the dog scampered away from under her feet to the door that led to the backyard.

“It’s off, Pete. I’m not dealing with this. You promised me.” Pete crossed his arms and looked at Kayli.

“I’m not giving up on us. You just need to understand that this is all just business. It has no reflection on us.”

“You are making me look like a fool; it definitely has a reflection on us. I want you to be happy, and having me obviously isn’t doing that because you feel it’s okay to be seeing someone else.”

“Kayli, no. Right now, you are basically the only person I feel like I can depend on, don’t leave me. The only thing I’m not happy about with us is our secrecy, but we know doing this is for the best. You’ll see in the end, when we finally do get married and settle down, that all of this was worth it. I love you and only you, please don’t take that away from me.”

Kayli hated Pete’s eyes. She hated them because they never lied. When he was mad, you could tell by his eyes. When he was sorry, his reinforced that feeling and when his heart was breaking his eyes made it 100% clear. Kayli closed her eyes; she didn’t want to give in this soon.  She just didn’t trust him. Even though she could tell this was killing him, something in her gut was letting her know she wasn’t being allowed to see all sides of this situation. Hemmingway barked suddenly, scratching the door to the yard. Pete peered over Kayli’s shoulder at the dog before looking in her eyes. Kayli sighed and put the ring in her pocket.

“I’ll see you in Germany,” she said, turning her back on him and leaving out the back door, shutting the door in Hemmingway’s face…

"Need" Part Six - But too cool to care

“Need” Part Six- but too cool to care

You're always the mysterious one with
Dark eyes and careless hair

Kayli kept her seat as Hemmingway scampered to her feet, looking up intently at Pete. Pete sighed and pulled his legs out from under her arm, sitting cross legged on the bench. Kayli was waiting rather impatiently for him to repeat his question, assuming that she must’ve misheard him, surely. He lifted his soft brown eyes from his begging pup to Kayli’s inquisitive expression. He reached his hand out and grabbed her left hand, bringing her fingers to his lips, kissing her knuckles softly.

“I want to get married. I want a life with you and no one else,” he answered, his eyes never leaving hers. Kayli yanked her hand away from him and continued to stare at him in disbelief. Pete felt his hope begin to dwindle the longer she sat there staring at him with that look on her face. He was surprised her mouth wasn’t hanging open; it really would’ve completed the expression. After another minute, Kayli stood up and shook her head, turning her back on Pete, opening the sliding glass door and going into his room. Hemmingway followed her until the door slammed in his face, which caused him to run back to Pete and stare at him.

“Yeah, buddy, I don’t know either. I think you’re dad just fucked himself pretty good,” he said to the dog before standing slowly and walking to his bedroom…

Kayli slammed the glass door shut and turned the sharp corner, locking herself in Pete’s bathroom. She let herself lean on the closed door before putting her face in her hands. Did Pete Wentz just ask her to marry him? Was he ACTUALLY crazy? Kayli felt a little bad for her reaction, but what did he expect? She wasn’t exactly 100% happy with their current situation as secret lovers, let alone a secret union, a secret marriage. How would that work? What are they supposed to do when she wants children, like that was the easiest thing in the world to hide. She was beginning to find out that Pete was the type of guy to live for the moment, whereas Kayli liked plans and structure. She never made a big decision without weighing the pros and cons of the situation and as she standing there running a preliminary list of pros and cons in her head. The bad things were piling on where as the good things remained at one: she would be Mrs. Pete Wentz and married to a man she knew she could love forever.

After taking a deep breath and gathering her thoughts up a little, she opened the door to see Pete sitting on the edge of his bed, staring at the floor. He looked so sad and embarrassed, Kayli felt like some what of a bitch.

“Baby…” she said softly. Pete looked at her, and Kayli saw everything vulnerable about him at that very moment. He looked tired, sad and a little hurt. How hard it must’ve been for him to actually ask that question and for her to react in such a terrible way. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have…just…” she sighed. Slowly she walked up to him, placing her body in between his legs and felt her whole body react as he wrapped his hands around the back of her thighs. She ran her fingers across the back of his head, placing her left hand on his cheek, lifting his face to hers. She leaned forward and kissed him softly before sighing calmly.

“Pete, if I’m going to be your wife, I’m going to have to follow you through out the good and the bad and if you believe that we can make it against all of the circumstance, then I’m going to start that path right now, right here. You have my heart and my soul and I don’t want to share that with anyone else.” Pete kept their gaze, searching deep into her for all of the things he needed to read between the lines, but he couldn’t really find any hidden meanings and smiled.

“So…is that a yes?” he asked softly. Kayli smiled shyly, before leaning in to kiss him.

“Try a hell yes,” she replied. Pete smiled before running his hands up her body, placing them on her head before pulling her close to him, the kissing beginning softly before passion over came the couple and they lost themselves in the moment…

Kayli groaned as she felt the sunlight hitting her through the sliding glass door. Why didn’t Pete shut those blinds? She moved her arm above her head, stretching and yawning, her body still slightly tingling from the currents of last night. It was then that her ears adjusted to a noise outside, the sound of people. She sat up quickly and cautiously peered out over the deck before seeing about ten people down on Pete’s lawn.

“Holy shit,” she muttered quickly, grabbing the bed sheet and tearing off into the bathroom. “What the fuck?” she whispered to herself. She went over to the toilet to pee, wondering why Pete just let her lay there when people were over and his blinds wide open for all the world to see her naked in his bed.

“Kayli, babe?” she heard Pete’s voice outside the bathroom door. She flushed before going to the door and opening it slightly, the bed sheet dragging behind her. “Morning, you want some breakfast?” he asked. Kayli stared at him wide-eyed.

“Are you crazy? What about everyone downstairs?” she asked him. He shrugged.

“They aren’t paying any attention. Why are you so worried?” Kayli left the bathroom and went her to clothes that were strewn randomly across the floor, pulling them on, while trying to hide from any eyes outside.

“Um…I thought our relationship was supposed to be a secret. Meaning, when you have people at your house, I’m not here. Especially when I’m naked,” she said, pulling on her jeans and buckling her belt.

“But I like it when you’re naked,” he said, walking up to her and wrapping his arm around her, kissing her neck. Kayli sighed, he knew her weak spot. She finally got the strength to push him away, huffing, and pretending to be mad when really she was just getting a thrill out of the situation.

“I’m going to go,” she said, grabbing her bag off the dresser.

“Wait!” Pete said, reaching into his sock drawer. “Don’t you want this first?” he asked, holding out a small box. Kayli almost dropped her things when she saw the box. He had really thought about this.

“Pete…” Kayli breathed out. He nodded and she walked toward him, feeling her breath get lost in her throat and she tried hard to choke back an overwhelming amount of emotions. Pete opened the box and Kayli practically fainted at the ring sitting inside. It was a perfect, modest, square cut diamond, exactly how she described it one the phone to him in the middle of stringing wires in a busy amphitheater. She couldn’t believe he remembered…then wondered how long ago he actually bought it, but it didn’t much matter. Pete pulled the ring from the box and Kayli attacked him with the biggest hug she could muster, kissing him on the neck and then traveling his lips to his, practically jumping from joy.

“So, I guess you like it,” he said as she pulled away from him. She grinned at him and kissed him again.

“It’s perfect,” she whispered. Pete reached down and grabbed her left hand, slipping the ring on and Kayli stared at it for a minute before remembering she had to get out of there.

“I’m really going to leave now,” she said, kissing Pete once more before turning to leave.

“Um…I love you?” Pete said as Kayli stepped out of his bedroom. Kayli rolled her eyes and ran back to him, kissing him again and wrapping her arms around him.

            “I love you.”

“I love you too.” She then turned and left for real this time. Pete sighed as he heard his front door shut; he didn’t understand why this was so hard and why he came up with this “brilliant” idea to make this relationship work. He wanted to be with his girlfriend…fiancé, at all times. He felt complete, whole and hopeful when she was near him, and when she was gone, he just felt alone…

"Need" Part Five: In My Place

Part Five: In My Place

And if you go, if you go
Leave me down here on my own
And I'll wait for you

The nature of a romance like Kayli and Pete’s could only have a volatile outcome. While two people get so caught up in their game, they often times forget what’s important. After nearly three months of “sating” and the Honda Civic Tour coming to a close, Kayli was begging her way onto the permanent Fall Out Boy crew, fro no reason but to be near Pete. Bob sat and listened to her pleas, wondering why it was really THAT important she come to Europe with them, but agreed because she was good at her job.

Pete found himself on a hiatus, crashing in his LA home, sitting on his computer trying to get some work done, but all he could think about was Kayli. It had been really hard these past few months, and basically all they did when they found the time to be alone in secret was have sex and pete was feeling like their relationship was headed in the wrong direction. The only time they ever really got to talk to find out about each other was when he was able to be far enough away from her that no one would suspect they were talking to each other on their cell phones. He found it unfair that he choose this option, now unable to even invite kayli to move in, to even come over so the could be together. He wasn’t sure how long he sat staring at the figures on his computer but his doorbell rang suddenly, causing Hemmingway to jump up and bark, charging for the front door. Pete followed the dog and was surprised when he opened the door.

“Kayli! What are you doing here? The paparazzi have been stalking my house. This wasn’t smart!’ he said, pulling her inside and quickly shutting the door.

“Pete, no one is stalking you. That’s paranoia,” she replied as she crouched down to rub Hemmy’s belly. He sighed, aggravated with her. He loved her truly, but the tension that began their relationship never subsided, and they continued to drive each other a little crazy.

What are you doing here?” he asked her. She stopped petting the dog and stood up, following him into the kitchen, He grabbed her a bottle of water and handed it to her as she yawned.

“Thanks. Um, Bob is letting me come to
Europe with you guys,” she said, walking up to Pete and wrapping her arms around his waist. He placed his arms around her shoulder and pulled her close, letting her head fall on his shoulder. “So, it looks like you won’t be able to hook up with any German super models,” she replied. Pete sighed and kissed the top of her head.

“Damn, because that was my whole plan,” he replied. She nodded, breathing him in as Hemmy began barking, running from the window to the front door. Kayli and Pete immediately pulled away from one another and looked at each other in alarm.

“Who is that?” she asked. Pete shrugged and began pushing Kayli toward his room.

“I’m not expecting anybody really, but you know how people just show up here. Just go to my room. I’ll be in when whoever leave,” he said as soon as the doorbell rang.

“But…” Kayli began. Now she was mad. How long would it take for who ever to leave? He wanted her to just sit and wait?

“Just go. I love you,” eh said, turning his back to her. Kayli grumbled and fled up the stairs as Pete opened the door.

“Sup, bitch?!” Kayli heard Dirty yell, followed by the voiced of Nick, Charlie and Joe.

“Shit, this is going to take forever,” Kayli said to herself. She stepped back and closed the bedroom door behind her, then sat down on Pete’s bed, turning on the TV. She sighed, very annoyed. She heard the voices start to hush and was hoping his took them out to the backyard so she could sneak out. She was not waiting for them to leave.

“Kayli?” she heard as Pete walked through the door. “They are probably going to be here a while, I don’t expect you to wait,” he said, sitting down on the bed. Kayli crossed her arms and pulled her legs underneath her, “baby, don’t get mad. You know I can’t just make them leave,” he added, crawling over to her and placing his head on her lap. Kayli looked out his balcony to the backyard and saw Joe running around with Hemmy and she rolled her eyes. How did Pete not expect her to be mad at this?

“Pete, I’m just going to leave. I wish I was more important to you than your friends,” she said, pushing him away from her. Pete stood and blocked her from leaving his room.

“Don’t leave her like this. You are important to me! That’s why no one can know about you, baby. You have to understand. You agreed to this relationship, now we just have to deal with the circumstances.”

“Pete, do you realize we have never spent a night together? You and I have never been out on a date? We’ve never gotten to part together or anything. I want a boyfriend, someone I can bring to meet my friends and family. Pete, I love you and I want everyone to know about it!” She said. Pete sighed and pulled Kayli as close to him as she could possibly get.

“We’ll go out this weekend. We’ll go out to dinner and do whatever else, okay? I’m trying to do whatever I can to make us work. I love you, babe,” eh said, grasping her chin in his fingers, locking their eyes together. “I’ll even call you when they leave and you can stay here with my tonight. No sex, just being together.” Kayli smiled softly. It was so hard making this relationship be what she thought it should be, but she forgot to remember that all of this was for a greater cause and she was so happy with Pete.

“Okay, so, I’ll see you later” Pete nodded and kissed her quickly. They left the bedroom and Pete walked her to the front door. She turned to kiss him and then left for her car. Pete smiled and shut the door, not noticing Nick came up the stairs.

“Hey man. What are you doing?” Nick asked him. Pete spun around and faced Nick, his brain searching for an excuse.

“Um…I…thought I heard another car in the driveway, I was just checking,” he said. Nick nodded slowly, totally not buying a single word.

“Well, you said you were coming up to grab us some drinks and then you never came back, I was coming to see what the problem was,” Nick replied. Pete shrugged.

“No problem. I just went to the bathroom. I was just heading down now….after I grabbed the drinks of course,” Pete said. Nick shook his head as he grabbed three waters out of the fridge.

“You are fucking weird sometimes, dude,” Nick said, going back down the steps. Pete sighed. He knew Nick was onto him…

Later that evening, after Pete took Kayli out for a quiet dinner, they were laying together on the chair on his back porch overlooking the Valley, happy to just be enjoying each others current company. Pete sighed and shifted, causing Hemmingway to jump up.

“Kayli…” he began. She let her eyes open softly, yawning into Pete’s chest.

            “Hmm?” she replied.

“Let’s get married,” he said. Kayli felt her eyes widen before she sat up straight and stared at Pete, Hemmy cocked his head at her curiously.

“What?” she asked. Pete sighed and closed his eyes. He knew it was a chance in hell.

"Paper Cut" part Two: It's only your shadow

“Here Comes Another Paper Cut”

Part Two: It’s only your shadow

Arriving too late

And leaving too soon

Two hours later Morgan heard a knock at the door and jumped up, flinging her door open and charging down the steps. She opened it and grinned.

"Uncle Joe!" she exclaimed, lunging forward to hug him.

"Hey beautiful. How are things?" he asked, hugging her tightly. Morgan stepped back and shrugged.

"Well, Dad just got home and him and Mom are already fighting...so I guess things are pretty normal," she replied. Joe frowned. He was upset to hear that Destiny and Patrick were having problems again. The last time almost tore their marriage apart and it hurt everyone, especially their young children.

"Where is Patrick?" Joe asked. Morgan pointed up the stairs as Connor came down them, talking on his cell phone and waved at Joe before retreating to the den.

"Hey kid," Joe said, climbing the stairs. He got to the landing and heard a faint bass thump coming from the room in the back and knew where he could find Patrick. He got to the door and pushed it open, the music getting louder.

"Hey Patrick!" Joe yelled over the music. Patrick turned his head and nodded, pulling the volume down. "Hey man, how was your trip?" Joe asked. Patrick shrugged.

"I don't know, I spent two weeks with this girl and I just don't feel like I believe in her enough to be her producer, you know?" he said. Joe nodded.

"But she's really hot, so not all is lost," he replied. Patrick laughed and shook his head.

"Yeah, too bad I'm a very married man." Joe laughed.

"Hey, that's never stopped some people before."

"Dude, i could never cheat on Destiny ever. Even though sometimes I think she deserves it."

"Oh, wow. That shit happened over 15 years ago, i love that you still hold that against her. It's awesome." Patrick sighed, kind of annoyed.

"I don't hold it against her still, I just think about the past sometimes and it bugs me. What if our children found out about what Destiny did to me back then? It would upset Morgan a lot, I know it. Especially since we can't seem to agree on what’s best for her. I can just see the two of them getting into it and then Morgan calling her mother a slut or something. Ugh," Patrick said. Joe shrugged. He had a son of his own, but he was about eight years younger then Morgan, so he didn't really know what to say about raising a teenager yet.

“Man, what are the chances Morgan would even find out about that? I just don’t like hearing that you guys are fighting again, I thought the counseling had helped,” Joe replied. Patrick removed his headphones from around his neck and shut his board off.

“It did for a whole, but I mean, the techniques get old and meaningless after so long. Morgan was eight when we first when for help, things have changed. The only thing we fight about now is this record deal thing. I want her to see her dream, Destiny wants her to lead a normal life, and I don’t know. Maybe she is too young,” Patrick added. Joe shrugged.

“But I know you, you’d never let Morgan hear you agree with Destiny, that’s probable a huge part of the problem right there, you never want to upset Morgan,” Joe added. Patrick nodded.

“I hate when she’s mad at me, but then it’s unfair of me when I let Destiny take all of the blame and Connor, god. I don’t know anything about my own son. What kind of father does that? I love him, but I can’t seem to find that common ground with him. He’s too much like Destiny for his own good though, before I went on my trip, he was in detention for fighting. He’s only eleven!” Patrick sighed.

“Really? What was he fighting about?” Joe asked. Patrick shrugged.

“I never bothered to find out,” he replied, melancholy…

Morgan exhaled slowly as she passed the joint back to her Uncle Joe. They were both sitting in her backyard in the pavilion over looking the pool with their backs to the house, smoking a small joint together. Morgan would never say it out loud, but she had a huge crush on Joe. It never bothered her that he was divorced or that he had a six year old son, she just knew Joe was hot and a lot more fun than all of the boys her age.

“So, your dad told me Connor was fighting a couple weeks ago, do you know why?” Joe asked, passing the roach to Morgan for her to finish. She giggled.

“Some asshole eighth grader told him that I get on my knees for anyone who asked nicely, boy or girl. So he kicked the kid’s ass for me. I love my little brother,” she said, still laughing, stubbing out the roach in an ashtray. Joe laughed with her.

“Well do you?” he said, seriously. Morgan whipped her head around and stared at him until he started to laugh, causing her to laugh as well. “Does Destiny know about that?” he asked.

“yeah, but she just yelled at him and told him their were other ways to defend me other than fighting. She just hates when I’m happy,” Morgan replied. Joe shook his head.

“Now you know that’s not true. Besides, your mom doesn’t have much room to talk. She was a scrapped back in the day.” Morgan turned to look at her house where she could see her mom through the kitchen window, then turned back to look at Joe.

“What do you mean?” she asked him. Joe smiled and cleared his throat, leaning in closer to her.

“Well, I never told you this okay,” Morgan nodded, “but I can recall a few times when she beat up a girl for talking to your dad. She even got herself kicked out of a club once for a full on brawl with one of his ex-girlfriends.” Morgan grinned widely. She never thought her Mom was actually cool on a former life.

“Wow, She really loved my dad, huh? I wonder what happened,” she said, Joe stood up and Morgan followed as they both began to walk back towards the house.

“Your parents still love each other; they just disagree sometimes like any couple does. They are two of the strongest willed people I know, so don’t worry about it,” Joe replied, opening the back door, letting Morgan inside first. Morgan smiled as she caught Destiny’s eye, then turned back to Joe.

“Thanks for the talk…and stuff, Uncle Joe,” she said. He smiled and pulled her into a hug.

“Anytime, kiddo. Love you,” he said. She smiled.

“Love you too. Mom, I think I’m going to go to bed,” Morgan said heading into the kitchen to grab water and a bog of pretzels.

“Okay, night honey. Don’t forget to remind me about dance class being tomorrow, I keep forgetting the day switched,” she said.

“Yes, mother. Goodnight,” she said, turning and heading up the stairs.

“Night, Mo!” Joe yelled as she waved to him. He sat down across from Destiny at the breakfast bar, watching her clean the sink.

“Joseph Mark Trohman, I know what you’re doing with my daughter out there and I want you to stop,” she said, turning and grinning at him.

“Eh, what’s the big deal? The shit is legal now,” he said.

“Yeah, but she’s only fourteen. At least wait until she’s sixteen,” she said. Joe laughed as Patrick came down the stairs.

“Can someone tell me why my daughter smells like pot?” he asked. Destiny and joe grinned at each other.

“Hey, Uncle Joe is only looking at for her. At least she is supervised when she smokes with me,” he replied, “Besides; it was just a tiny joint.”

“Dude, stop corrupting my children,” Patrick replied as he sat down beside Joe.

“Joe, do you want a beer or something?” Destiny asked.

“No, I better head out. I get James for the weekend, so I need sleep.” Joe’s son James was hell on wheels most of the time but Joe always tried to make the most of their time together.

“Well, bring him over tomorrow, you know Connor loves entertaining him and teaching him bad habits,” Patrick replied.

“Yeah, I probably will. I just don’t want to deal with his mother,” he sighed,” Well, I’ll see you guys later,” he said, leaving…

A few hours later, Patrick finally got too tired to try and make this girl he was reluctantly producing to sound better and shut down his equipment, headed for bed.

He got to the bedroom to see Destiny laying above the covers watching TV. He sighed sadly, wondering when all of the spark disappeared from their once exciting marriage. He changed into sleep clothes and crawled into the bed beside her, his back to her.

Destiny looked over at her husband and sighed sadly, wishing he would start randomly kissing her neck and slid his hand between her legs like he used to. She realized they weren’t twenty anymore, but they weren’t dead, either. She wanted that thing back that they used to have. Even Patrick being away for two weeks didn’t cause them to miss each other like they used to. She recalled crying herself to sleep some nights when Patrick was out on the Honda Civic Tour and when he toured Europe after that. When they first had Morgan it didn’t change much between them, but after Connor was born things got worse. She kind of blamed having a second child for the deterioration of their marriage, and the fact they pushed it under the rug for nearly four years before it all came to a head with a huge screaming match and Patrick head packed his bags and left for over a month. It seemed from then on Morgan really clung to Patrick and pushed farther away from Destiny, Connor was still too young to understand what had happened. To save their already fragile relationship they sought professional help and found their communication skills were severely lacking. They picked up the pieces and got relatively back on the right track until a few months ago when Patrick announced he was helping to get Morgan a recording contract. Destiny had a huge problem with it mostly due to how the Fall out Boy break-up effected Patrick’s friendship with Pete. Who knew what the business would do to their young daughter?

“Dest?” Patrick asked quietly. She stopped her thought and shut off the TV before turning to him. He rolled over and looked in her eyes.

“I love you,” he said softly. Destiny smiled weakly before climbing under the covers and crawling over to him, settling herself on his chest, taking a deep breath.

“I love you, too,” she replied.

“I’ve been thinking and maybe your right. Maybe I should wait until Mo is a little older to get her into this.”

“She’s not going to be happy to hear you sat that,” Destiny replied.

“Well, she’ll just have to get over it” he said. Destiny smiled, pushed her body up slightly to kiss him…

"Here Comes another Paper Cut" by getupngo

Part one: I'm getting kind of light headed

now I'm stuck with a hand full of bandaids

Morgan Stumph sat and stared at her wall, furious. Her bitch of a mother just sent her to her room. Morgan didn’t even know why her mother was mad at her, all Morgan was doing was sitting on the computer talking to her friends. She hated when her Dad was out of town, it was like if her mother wasn’t getting laid, she took it out on her, and don’t get her started about how Connor was her mother’s favorite. He got to do anything he wanted.

Morgan always prided herself on being Daddy’s little girl. Her father, Patrick, did anything she asked and gave her anything she wanted. Sometimes he even let her hang out in the studio while he was working with an up and coming band. That was her favorite thing. Patrick was coming home today, and her Uncle Joe was coming over to hang out. Morgan loved when Uncle Joe came to visit; he was one of the coolest people she had ever met. Uncle Joe was hysterical and she loved hanging around him, plus Uncle Joe let her smoke pot.

“Don’t tell your mother, but I’d rather you get high with me then some loser teens. You’re my favorite niece,” he would always say. She loved Uncle Joe.

“Morgan! Come down stairs, Mom says dinner is ready!” she heard her brother yell through the door. Morgan huffed, she didn’t really want dinner, simply out of spite.

“I’m not hungry!” she yelled. Connor shrugged and ran downstairs, just his time to see the front door fly open as Patrick come in.

“Hey, slugger,” Patrick said as he saw his son fly by him to the kitchen.

“Hi, Dad,” Connor replied without stopping. Patrick sighed. Good to know coming home was special.

“Connor, can you please help your father with his stuff?” Destiny asked him. The boy groaned and trudged back to the door, grabbing two bags and placing them at the bottom of the staircase before sitting down to start eating. “Hey, wait for everyone else!” Destiny said. Connor groaned again and sat his fork down.

“But Morgan isn’t even coming down ‘cause she’s being a loser. I’m hungry!” he whined. Patrick shot a look at Destiny as he placed another bag at the bottom of the stairs.

“Hey baby,” Desinty said as she approached her husband, kissing him. He kissed her back, before looking at Connor.

“Why isn’t Morgan coming down to eat?” he asked his son. Connor huffed.

“Mom sent her to her room over two hours ago. That was after they screamed at each other for ten minutes,” he replied. Destiny sighed.

“Dest? Still? I told you to get off her case,” Patrick said, beginning to walk up the steps.

“She was talking to her friends about some showcase? I told you I don’t want her doing that!” Destiny yelled to Patrick. He turned and looked at his wife before coming back down the stairs.

“So you sent her to her room? I never planned a showcase for her. We didn’t even finish her demo. She’s just fantasizing. Let her alone.”

“Patrick, no. I’m not letting her do this. I can’t believe you are still helping her!”

“My baby girl has real talent, I’m letting it do to waste!”

“She’s fourteen! She needs to graduate high school and go to college, not become some pop star!” Patrick glared at Destiny before sighing.

“She’s not only your daughter, and I can have a say in what she does. I know what this business is like and she’s fine. I’m making sure of it,” he said. Destiny felt her skin burn. No wonder Morgan hated her guts, her father let her have whatever and Destiny’s word was bullshit.

Patrick got to Morgan’s room and knocked softly.

“Baby? Can I come in?” he asked. Morgan stood and walked to her door, opening it slightly.

“Hi, daddy,” she said. Morgan was too happy to see her father standing there, but she was being moody and decided to let him know she was mad. Anything to get her mother in trouble with him.

“What’s wrong?” Patrick asked his only daughter. He smiled as Morgan sighed dramatically; she got that from her mother.

“Mom yelled at me because I was talking to my friends. She hates me and obviously doesn’t want me to be happy, ever,” she said. Patrick pushed the door open a little and reached forward pulling Morgan into a hug.

“Your mother doesn’t hate you and she certainly doesn’t want to see you unhappy. She’s just worried about me letting you get into the business but don’t worry I’ll handle it. Now come down and eat. I haven’t seen you in two weeks, I miss you,” he said. Morgan smiled.

“I missed you too daddy,” she said, “but I’m not coming down. I don’t want to see Mom.” Patrick shrugged.

“Then don’t eat, baby girl. That’s your choice. Don’t complain about being hungry later,” he said. Morgan scrunched up her nose at Patrick’s statement.

“Fine, I won’t!” she said, slamming the door.

Patrick sighed as the door shut. Raising a teenager was getting harder by the day and he was feeling too old for it. Especially after the two weeks he just had. He wasn’t in much of a mood to fight with his daughter today. He went back down the stairs and sat down at the table to find Connor already almost done with his dinner and Destiny tossing the food around her plate.

“Thanks for waiting, kid,” he said as he sat down. Connor looked at his dad and shrugged. He was eleven now and his red hair was hanging down shaggy in his face. He was practically the spitting image of his dad at the same age and it made Destiny’s heart melt when she looked at him. Connor was just at that age where girls were becoming an issue and image was part of the deal. “you need a haircut,” Patrick said to him. Connor sat his fork down and stared at his father. Destiny let him do whatever he wanted for the most part and kept at his sister of this record deal thing. He was mad that his father said nothing to him like “nice to see you son, I missed you,” but rather decided he needed to help him carry his suitcases and get a haircut.

“Mom, may I be excused?” he asked. Destiny looked at him a nodded. He pushed his chair back and stomped out of the room.

“Honey, why do you do that to him?”

“What? His hair is too long,” Patrick said. Destiny sighed.

“It’s just hair. You’re worried about his hair but you aren’t worried about Morgan getting into the music business? I don’t understand you,” she said, standing up and taking her and Connors plates to the kitchen. She began to rinse off the dishes as Patrick came in.

“We’ve been raising two kids together for almost for fourteen years without all of these problems and now that I’m helping Morgan follow her dreams you’re getting mad?”

“Patrick, she is just too god damn young to be thrown into his life. It will to turn her into a grown up way too soon. I don’t want her to do it! Why won’t you respect me? It’s no wonder she hates my fucking guts, you let her think its okay to disrespect me!”

“Destiny! I am not having this conversation with you now,” he said before turning on his heel and walking to the bedroom. Destiny sighed and threw her towel into the sink.

“Welcome home,” she said.

Part Four: “And it’s you, you’re running through my mind”

Part Four: “And it’s you, you’re running through my mind”

Let’s live in the moment just this time could we
Just take one moment of our time maybe
Let’s forget we’re running out of time

Pete woke up a few hours later to find himself cuddled under some sheets naked with a slinky thing tied around his wrist. He grinned at it before tugging it away, shoving it to the bottom of his Louis Vitton messenger bag. He stood and got dressed, heading out into the front of the bus feeling more relaxed and comfortable then he could ever remember being. Nick looked to see Pete approaching and smiled.

“What’s up, man? You look well rested, strangely,” he said. Pete sat down beside him, pulling his Macbook Pro onto his lap.

“I know, I just feel good today. It’s a good day,” he replied, ready to update his many blogs. Nick rolled his eyes, wondering to himself what brought on this strange attitude. Charlie came in a second later with Dirty and Kayli, the three of them were heading to the venue to help set up for the show.

“Morning, guys,” Kayli said, smiling. Pete looked up at her and nodded, while Nick threw out a hey. Kayli stuffled a giggle at Pete’s attempt at not caring about seeing her, no one seemed to notice either, which she found even more amusing. She quickly followed Dirty off the bus and went about her work with lighting and setting up the equipment.

Hours later, the band came in to get ready for the show and Patrick walked up to Kayli striking up a friendly conversation. Kayli flirted with him lightly in her usual fashion, giggling and staying genuinely involved in the topic, feeling her face flush as she watched Pete glare at her softly from the other side of the room, hidden in a conversation with other people. Kayli didn’t know why, but it made her really hot pretending like she still disliked Pete, and it really made it better that she could flirt opening in front of him. Then she began wondering what the rules of the dame actually were, they hadn’t discussed it.

“Yeah, I think that’s the best idea yet!” she said to Patrick as they both laughed and he nodded.

“Well, I’ll talk to you later, I’m going to go warm up,” he told her. Kayli nodded and gave him a hug before he walked off. She then decided to go help set up for the sound check, passing by Pete and Charlie on her way to the stage. Charlie’s back was to her, so she blew Pete a kiss from behind Charlie, and Pete smiled for a minute before she passed by them. Charlie looked over to see who Pete was smiling at, then gave him a weird look.

“What? I’m just trying to be friendly,” Pete said, while Charlie laughed at him.

“You can’t fool me. You’re just cruel to be kind, man. She’ll warm up to you soon enough, he said. She was pretty warm last night Pete thought to himself before shrugging at Charlie’s comment.

“Eh, it’s not really a big concern of mine what she thinks of me,” he said. Charlie nodded and continued with their previous conversation.

A week and four shows later, Kayli ran her fingers through her hair quickly, flattening her shirt and double checking her face in the tiny bathroom mirror, she look very tired. Pete was coming off the stage as she went to the dressing room he was sharing with Joe, locking herself in the bathroom to wait for Pete. She began thinking about the previous week, it had been a little stressful keeping her relationship with Pete a secret, but it had also been a lot of freaking fun. A double knock on the door startled her out of her thoughts and she opened it to be immediately attacked by Pete’s kisses.

“We have about ten minutes,” he said, in between places kissing on and biting at her neck. She sat on the toilet and Pete sunk into her, pulling her shirt away as she began to undo his jeans, pulling away his sweaty t-shirt and hoodie.

“Think you can pull it off?”  she asked with a smile, beginning to pant as Pete slipped two fingers inside her, slowly moving them in and out. He growled into her neck as she began tugging gently on his hard on.

“Baby, you know me,” he breathed out, “I’m the five minute champ.” He kicked his pants the rest of the way off, sitting down on the toilet seat lid as Kayli placed herself on his lap, gasping as he slid insider her. Kayli leaned back slightly, resting on the wall behind her, letting Pete thrust in and out of her.

“Oh shit. Pete, harder,” she moaned to him, pulling the hair on the back of his head. Pete grunted and pushed harder, the lid to the toilet shifted and hit the wall with a loud thud, causing both of them laugh and Kayli began rocking her hips back up to him.

“Kayli, Kayli, oh god, babe,” Pete said, kissing her bare chest, wrapping his arms around her back, supporting her as he moved inside her, “I’m going to cum, just, oh shit,” he said. Kayli smiled and lifted his head to her, kissing him deeply, tensing up her muscles around him as he grunted; moving into her heard one more time, releasing himself. Kayli grasped his ass as she pushed him closer, coming herself. She relaxed as Pete rested his head on her shoulder. Kayli sighed, content, clanking at an imaginary watch.

“With three minutes to spare. You really are a champ, baby,” she said, smiling. Pete laughed and kissed her shoulder, up her neck and to her lips. He pulled out of her and she settled into his lap again leaning into his chest, hugging him tightly, and still kissing.

“See, I told you,” he said in between kisses. Kayli sat on the toilet naked with Pete for a while making out before she began to worry about getting caught, but Pete didn’t seem worried, so she relaxed again.

“Kayli, I love you,” Pete said suddenly. She pulled away from his kiss and looked at him wide eyes. Pete knitted his eyebrows, “too soon?” he asked. Kayli laughed and kissed him gently.

“No…it’s just…on a toilet?” she said laughing. Pete sighed and laughed softly, putting his head to her shoulder again.

“Well, I thought ‘if I could love her while fucking her on a toilet, then this must really be it,” he said, loosely quoting one of Kayli’s favorite movies. Finally Kayli pushed Pete away from her reading down to her clothes.

“We have to get out of here if you don’t want to be caught with your pants down…again.” Pete rolled his eyes and put his clothes back on.

“You’re hilarious,” he replied. Kayli grinned and nodded. She turned to leave when Pete stopped her, pushing her back up against the door.

“Aren’t you forgetting something?” he said to her softly. Kayli giggled and kissed him passionately. She leaned her head back and looked into his dark brown eyes.

“I love you, too,” she whispered. At the moment, Pete has the strangest sensation flow through him. His mind flashed a vision of kids, dogs, him and Kayli Marriage, happiness, the perfect life. He smiled at her softly, brushing some hair away and kissing her softly. “Now, I have to leave! I love you, Peter,” she said, turning to leave. He smiled as she walked to the dressing room door and peaked out, checking to see if the coast was clear. When she was sure it was okay, she turned and waved to Pete, closing the door softly behind her.

reflecting

so...let's just get started.

Last night, an exboyfriend IMs me, asking when I'll be in Florida cos he wants to catch up. Then the "will get to be alone" comes up and I freeze.

"I will in Florida with my girlfriend, you do realize this, right?" To which i see a this:

"Just how adventurous are you right now?" ...excuse me? Because I'm bi and honestly found love where i never thought i would, you are going to judge me? fuck you. Then comes the clincher:

"I dont really know what I'm saying. I've had a couple drinks." Okay, good. you do that. You go back to being that guy because i WILL NOT save you again. I won't do it. Train wrecks just aren't my thing anymore, go to hell.

Tonight: My 'friend' Jordan IMs me. Why? Oh, because he's drunk. To which I reply:

"of course, that is the only time you IM me, afterall." response?

SniggitySn00k: ha here comes the self-pity that everyone loves
CTdreamstgirl856: no, it was just an observation
SniggitySn00k: no its definately a form of your self-defeating mood towards me
SniggitySn00k: look im sorry
CTdreamstgirl856: well, sorry you took it that wat
CTdreamstgirl856: *way
CTdreamstgirl856: and...i'm very over it
SniggitySn00k: i understand that
SniggitySn00k: but i still apologize
CTdreamstgirl856: and i appriciate it alot
SniggitySn00k: because i know that for a period (regardless of how long ago) that i put you through hell  [put me through hell? a bit of an overstatement if you ask me. Sure, what you said hurt my feelings...but hell? Please!]
SniggitySn00k: im sorry we had sex (and i know it sucked, you should go on top it makes me look better) and im sorry for everything
SniggitySn00k: and i know i've been drinking but i assure you this is genuine
CTdreamstgirl856: im not sorry we had sex. and...i believe you.
SniggitySn00k: k good
SniggitySn00k: but seriously im usually better at sex
SniggitySn00k: i swear!
CTdreamstgirl856: ill take your word for it
CTdreamstgirl856: and you know, i just kind of liked your company, honestly.
SniggitySn00k: i understand
SniggitySn00k: i am pretty fucking cool
CTdreamstgirl856: lol, sure
SniggitySn00k: but i am also extremely flawed
SniggitySn00k: and honestly a lot of females (yourself included) didnt seem to get that just because i have a unique, twisted outlook one things doesnt mean i make a good boyfriend or whatever
CTdreamstgirl856: i know youre flawed
CTdreamstgirl856: believe me, i see this
CTdreamstgirl856: and i dont want...a relationship from you
CTdreamstgirl856: i used to, ill admit it
CTdreamstgirl856: but...im over it
SniggitySn00k: i honestly feel bad for the sex
SniggitySn00k: because i feel like i used you (and admittedly at the time, i did) but you really are a beautiful and intelligent woman
SniggitySn00k: just not one i could be with
SniggitySn00k: because you fulfill a part of me i dont want to be fulfilled let alone celebrated which is what you did
CTdreamstgirl856: ........i dont think i follow
SniggitySn00k: its hard to explain right now (please forgive me, i am really drunk)
SniggitySn00k: the girl im dating and in love with is the exact opposite of you
SniggitySn00k: i dont need a girl who worships me (which, in a sense, you did at one time) but instead, a girl who keeps me grounded and doesnt feed into all of my self-celebrating fantasies
SniggitySn00k went away at 10:15:17 PM.
CTdreamstgirl856: dude, i dont want to burst your bubble, but "worship" is a strong word
CTdreamstgirl856: yeah, i liked you, yeah you were pretty refreshing for a while, but...
CTdreamstgirl856: i began to see these flaws and it was easy to move along

as you can see, he went away. I guess he was shocked to hear that my life DIDNT revolve around him and his "self celebrating fantasies".

what the fuck ever.

....July, you are too far away my friend. I need real people and I need them now.

*sigh*
oh and ps- i didnt get a high school musical Call back for Gabriella. Which sucks, because I'm pretty sure i know who did and I'm pretty sure I know where all the other parts are going. *is pissed* but whatever, ya know. Whatev!

Part Three: If you ask me if I love him…I'd lie.

Part Three: If you ask me if I love him…I'd lie.

He sees everything in black and white
Never let nobody see him cry
I don't let nobody see me wishing he was mine

Kayli looked back at Pete as she slipped her pants on, her heart beating a mile a minute. His eyes were closed with a satisfied smile, now was the perfect chance. She quickly scooped her other belongings off the floor then ran out the door, shutting it softly behind her. She got to the small bathroom and sat down behind the closed door putting her head in her lap. How did she just let that happen? She thought back to the sex and it sent shivers up her spine. She just had mind blowing sex with a total stranger, and was now running the risk of losing her job if he told anyone. Her only option was to pretend that it never happened or else she might completely snap. She put the rest of her clothes on and looked around carefully for Pete, but saw no one and escaped to her bunk, shutting the curtain, only to stare at the space above her.

The next day, Pete felt anxious, an anxious he hadn’t felt in a long time. Everytime he caught a glimpse of Kayli, he felt his pulse race and his face flush. He felt like a five year old with his first crush. Kayli, however, was giving him the cold shoulder; she hasn't even glanced at him all day. Pete was sitting in a chair backstage, his Sidekick on silent. He didn't feel like being distracted, his mind was too busy and he wasn't focused on anything but the sensations he had felt the previous night.

"What's up?!" Dirty said from behind Pete. He jumped then turned to offer a smile, before turning his attention back to watching Kayli struggle with some wires. Dirty followed Pete's eyes to see what he was looking at. "Ah, the new girl. Dude, she's pretty hot, I'd tap it." Pete rolled his eyes.

"I'm still amazed sometimes that you are in a committed relationship, dude," he said. Dirty laughed.

"Chill, bro. It's all in good fun…but seriously, I'd still tap it," he said, walking away. Pete smiled to himself, sort of wishing he could tell someone, anyone about what happened between him and Kayli.

Pete watched another week slip by, and still, Kayli hadn't said barely a word to him and he wondered why it was so hard to speak to her. She just made him a giant ball of nerves, every time he felt like he could just open up and say something to her, the words just dissolved on his tongue and he could think of nothing to say. All the words were cheesy and disappointing.

Kayli deliberately avoided Pete's gaze for an entire week, not for any other reason except that she knew if she let their eyes meet, she would fall completely back into his arms, and that was exactly what she didn’t want to happen ever again. She couldn't afford to blow this tour. She began noticing that Pete would stare at her for a while when he thought she couldn't tell or when no one else was looking, which forced her not to want the situation to progress even more.

A few days later, Pete had finally given up hope that Kayli was going to come around without a fight. He decided to let it go. To stop staring at her longingly and to give her the cold shoulder back. It was his way of seeing if she was really ignoring him because she really did hate him, or if she was just playing a game.

To Kayli, the night she slept with Pete began to feel like a dream, or rather, she was hoping it was a dream. The tour continued and as Pete began to stare at her less and began to ignore her more, she found herself wishing he would go back to pining over her. She could deny to everyone but herself how she really felt about Pete and she wanted him in the worst way, but she also liked her pride.

Pete was sitting up again one night, this time getting nostalgic on himself and wondering what happened to the old him. He just didn’t feel right anymore, it was making him sad whne he realized he had lost touch with Peter Wentz and was just now the man in the band who everyone had an opinion about.

Kayli found herself missing home, she wanted to sleep in her own bed again, she forgot how lonely she got on the road, even thought she was constantly surrounded by people. Suddenly overcome by anxiety, she stood and walked to the front of the bus, flinging the door open in search of air, she suddenly felt overwhelmingly claustrophobic and needed more space then the bus was providing her.

Pete sat up straight, startled out of his uncomfortable sleep by the sound of a door opening. He watched with knitted eyebrows as Kayli came in, taking deep breaths and pacing. She kept pacing and Pete found himself getting worried, so he stood up and walked to her, placing his hands on her shoulders. She jumped and whirled around to face him.

"Don't touch me!" she yelled at him, pushing his hands away from her. Pete stepped back, surprised by her tone.

"Kayli, what's wrong?" he said. He had been hysterical before and could see her on the very verge of breaking point.

"I need air. I can't stay on this bus anymore, Pete. I just can't. I want to go home, I'm not having fun anymore," she said, continuing her pacing. Pete didn't know what to say, he had been ignoring her for the past two weeks, he hadn’t been paying any attention to whether or not she was still enjoying the tour.

"Kayli, you need to sit and breathe, you're only freaking yourself out by pacing like this. Just sit, okay?" He said, gently taking her by the hand and sitting her down on the couch. She turned to look at him, the sincerity in his eyes was substantial and she took a few deep breathes as she kept their eyes locked. She couldn't tear away. Something in her brain was warning her to look away, but she couldn't, she didn't want to either. She had never noticed how his eyes got dewy when he was concerned, he looked like a worried puppy and she wanted to fall back into him completely. She didn't want to fight it anymore.

"Pete…" she said, watching his eyes soften as she said his name. Then she lurched forward and placed her lips strongly on his. Pete relaxed himself and pulled her closer, he knew she was done with her game. "I'm sorry," she said, quickly pulling her body away from his and walking away. Pete ran his fingers through his hair,

"Kayli?"  he said, standing and following close behind her. She turned to face him again, his eyes covered in confusion which caused Kayli to sigh deeply, looking down at her feet.

"I won't lie to you or to myself anymore, I want to be with you, Pete, I really do. I just don’t think I have what it takes. Being with you scares me. I've seen what people have said about the other girls you've been with, I just don't think I have the skin for it." Pete couldn't help but smile a little after her confession, but he needed to concentrate on shaking her fear…then it occurred to him.

"Then let's not tell anyone. No one. The only people that will know are you and me. I really think you could be my missing pieces, I can't explain it but I felt it the other night. I want us to stay pure and untouched by any judgment from anyone." Kayli peered at him, completely bewildered.

"How is that going to work? Someone is bound to find out when we are together so much."

"Not if we don't change. If we keep things just the way they are now. No one will know, and I want to try us. Please. Let's just try." Kayli felt her eyes search Pete's hard. He was really serious about this, but would he, of all people, plan on keeping anything like this a secret.

"Pete, if I'm with you, I want to be with you. I don’t want to have to sneak around and pretend like I don't even know you like I do now. I want to be proud of us, and not telling anyone is just going to make me crazy." Pete shook his head.

"Kayli, I want to be with you too, but people talk too much about me. I don't want you getting hurt and I don't want people trying to interfere with our relationship. I'm dedicated to making this thing work. Please." Kayli sighed, but looked back at Pete's gaze. She placed her hand on the side of his neck and pulled his face to hers, softly kissing him. They stayed locked in a soft kiss for a few minutes, Pete placed his hands on her hips and rubbed gently at her waist, carefully pulling them together. Kayli felt her heart flutter at his gentle touch and she carefully broke the embrace.

"If you think it will work, I'll try anything if it means we can share more moments like these." Pete smiled and kissed her again, pulling her into a hug and nuzzling his face into her neck, inhaling deeply.

"I only want there to be moments like these," he whispered. Kayli tightened her grip around his shoulders, breathing in his cologne and smiling to herself. They both needed to forget about everything they left at home, and carry on with each other. Kayli could feel something real deep in her body, something she had been trying to ignore so hard for weeks, but here and now, she couldn't imagine how she had repressed it for so long.

"Come on," Pete said quickly, breaking their hug and grabbing her hand, pulling her into the back room with him. Once inside Pete quickly pulled Kayli to his lap and kissed along her neck and she wasted no time, dragging his shirt away and yanking his pants open. He easily lifted her tank top over her head and tossed her bra away, showering her chest and stomach with kissed as she stood, allowing him to wriggle out of his jeans. Pete laid her down on the couch, running his hand over the inside of her thighs before removing her shorts. Kayli spread her legs quickly, helping to guide Pete to her, tossing her head back as he penetrated her. She lazily draped her arms over his shoulders as he started thrusting in and out, moaning her name quietly, lavishing anything he could touch with kisses.

Kayli felt her body heat rise and let her heart tell her this time that it was real. She let her soul melt into Pete's and they both snapped their eyes open, staring at each other as their orgasms crashed down on each sensation they felt coursing through their systems. Pete relaxed himself, letting his body cover hers, wrapping his arm around her back and cuddling into her, his heart beating in time with hers. They knew better then to fall asleep with her, but their bodies were urging them to do nothing more…

"A sense of function, but a disregard" Part 18: For everything you've given me

AN: This is it, it's over! And to think it started out as a creepy little one shot! Thanks to all the readers and don't forget to check out my new story "I need you by my side"

thanks guys!

Part Eighteen: For everything you've given me

You walked by in the nick of time
Looking like an answered prayer
You know I'm truly blessed

Destiny found herself driving down an empty LA highway (how unusual) four years later, smiling contently to herself. Patrick had taken his car into the garage earlier that morning and she was on her way to pick him up from work. Fall Out Boy had disbanded two years earlier, music had evolved and unfortunately, they were no longer on the hot list, but luckily for Patrick, he had made himself known well enough that he was in demand as a producer, and also in demand as a father and husband. Destiny became pregnant one year after she had finally decided that Patrick was all she needed and all she wanted, and gave birth to their first child, a little girl with light red hair who went by the name Morgan and had an innate knack for music, she loved watching her daddy lounge around and strum his guitar.

Patrick and Destiny moved too fast for their parents' taste, having a child before they got married, but they felt that ultimately it was the right decision for them. After Morgan turned one, they finally decided that the time was right to tie the knot and had a small wedding, only close family and close friends, which of course included the old gang. Destiny kept herself determined to stay in touch with Pete, despite the creative differences that ultimately forced the band apart and forced space between him and Patrick. She and Marie were still good friends, she and Joe would visit the couple every so often, both of them concentrating on making a life for themselves as well.

Patrick kept himself pretty busy, juggling his professional life with his home one, but easily kept it all in perspective, always considering himself very lucky to have the career he did and the family he made. Destiny continued each day to surprise him, sometimes not always positively, but she never kept him bored and he thanked her every chance he got for giving him a child that he longed for for so long.

Destiny grinned at the car seat through the rearview mirror at Morgan; their little girl became the light of Patrick's life. He would come home everyday for dinner and spend a few hours each night letting her be a princess or whatever fantasy she wished that day. It made Destiny sometimes feel foolish for everything she had put him through so that they were able to get to the plateau they were currently on. It was true that with a two year old and a booming career, things sometimes got rough, especially for a pair of newlyweds who were still trying to figure each other out and to figure out how life worked best for their family.

Today, Destiny was especially excited to see Patrick again. She had news to share with him and couldn't wait to see his reaction. She pulled up and parked, walking to the backseat, getting Morgan out of her car seat. The little girl sleepily wiped at her eyes, carefully peering around, before beginning to bop excitedly, she knew where she was.

Patrick walked down the hallway, readjusting his hat and glasses before pushing open the door, stepping out into the parking lot.

"Daddy!" Morgan yelled, as she squirmed her way out of Destiny's grip and tore off across the parking lot. Destiny sighed and threw Morgan's jacket over her arm and watched Patrick bend down to pick her up and place a kiss on her cheek.

"You know better than to run across the parking lot with out Mommy, Morgan," he said, as he approached the SUV Destiny was leaning on and grinning at him. Morgan turned to stare at Destiny, then back at Patrick before shrugging and placing her head on his shoulder. Patrick shrugged as well, taking the jacket from Destiny and setting Morgan down before struggling with the tot to put it on. He picked her back up and placed her in the car seat once more, as she whined accordingly in her broken English, upset that she had to endure the torture once more. Patrick smoothed her hair down as Morgan quieted and backed off to shut the door. Destiny walked toward him and placed her hand on his arm as he looked at her and sighed.

"Long day?" she asked. He nodded before leaning forward and kissing her softly, pulling her to him and hugging her tightly. Seeing Morgan always made him feel fuzzy inside and it always made him want to be closer to Destiny. At this point, it was hard to imagine how they even wasted the time being mad at each over Andy and Anna, but Patrick knew that everything happened for a reason and all the negative events only made them stronger in the end.

Destiny dropped Patrick off to pick up his car and took Morgan home for a nap, she was whining and being cranky the whole way home and Destiny was about to pull her hair out. Morgan was definitely Daddy's little girl and basically only listened to Patrick. After she carried the screaming child into the house and tried in vain to get her to take a nap, Patrick came home with some take out and sighed as he heard Morgan screaming at the top of her lungs. He sat the food on the counter and trudged up the stairs to her bedroom to see her sitting in her crib, binky in hand, bawling. He looked around quickly for Destiny and assumed she had given up on getting her to quiet down.

"You really do need a nap, cranky pants," he said as he leaned down and picked her up, carrying her with him over to the chair in the corner. He took the binky out of her hand and put it back in her mouth as she continued to wail before he started humming softly. Morgan quieted substantially; it seemed she could never be loud when Patrick was singing to her. Only a few minutes later he was halfway through his song when Morgan had finally passed out on his shoulder, humming softly herself.

Destiny took a deep breath when she heard Morgan finally stop screaming, looking at herself in the mirror, examining. She had been excited a few hours ago at her news, but when she couldn't handle the daughter she had, she wondered if it was smart to bring another one into the world. Patrick of course would be happy with the news and Destiny did miss being pregnant, but she was beginning to second guess herself. Finally she had enough lamenting, and walked down the hall to Morgan's room, surprised to find not only Morgan fast asleep, but Patrick too, the pair of them holding onto to each other on the rocking chair in the corner. She quietly approached them and nudged Patrick, who woke up and rubbed his eyes, yawning.

"Opps," he said as he noticed he was still holding onto Morgan. Gently he stood and set her down in her crib, kissing her forehead before leaving the room, his hand in Destiny's. They got to the kitchen and he put the food in the fridge, noticing a large sigh escape Destiny.

"Something wrong?" he asked her. She shook her head. Honestly, there was nothing wrong with her news this time. They were financially secure, married and were already raising a beautiful little girl, but Destiny was still being hard on herself.

"I have some news," she began. Patrick walked up to her and nodded, waiting for her to continue, "I'm pregnant," she said, trying hard to fight her smile.

"Seriously? Already?" Patrick asked, and she nodded, searching in his eyes to see if he really thought two years was too short. "That's fucking amazing," he said finally before reaching over and dragging Destiny to him and hugging her tightly. "It better be a boy this time," he said. Destiny giggled and shook her head.

"I'm not making any promises," she said with a smile. Patrick walked away to the living room as Destiny's smile faded. He sat down on the couch at his laptop and put on his headphones with Destiny following him in a minute later. She stood in front of him before dragging his computer away from his lap and placing herself on him instead. He pulled his headphones off and began kissing her neck, slipping his hands under her shirt as she moaned.

"Patrick, I'm scared," she said finally. He backed away from her and looked her in the eyes. "I can't even stand Morgan sometimes, I'm a shitty mother. How am I supposed to have another child?" she said. Patrick brushed a piece of hair away from her eyes and smiled.

"Destiny, you aren't a shitty mother. Yeah sometimes it can get frustrating when you feel like you can't control her, but that doesn’t make you a bad mother. You still love Morgan and I'm always going to be here to help you. That's why we're doing this together. We can do this, okay?" he said. Destiny placed her left hand on his face and stroked his side burn softly before leaning down to kiss him and nodding.

"I love you," she said, in between kisses.

"You know, I heard somewhere that if you have sex while you're pregnant, you are most likely to have a boy."

"Patrick, you know that's not true!" Destiny said with a laugh.

"True, but it's worth a shot," Patrick replied as he trailed his kisses away from her lips and returned them to her neck before they both hastily began ripping each other's clothes off.

If you told Patrick and Destiny four years ago that their life would turn out like this, they would never have been able to comprehend it, but one thing remained true, romances like these were

            B) Designed to succeed.

Afterward:

Nine months later, Patrick sat staring through the window at his newborn, shocked that he was right. Destiny had given birth to a beautiful baby boy. He was only joking when he had told Destiny that the outcome of sex while you were pregnant would give you a son, but now he sat, amusing himself to no end.

"Daddy?" Morgan pulled at his pants leg.

"Yeah munchkin?" Patrick looked down at her and picked her up, as she sat looking through the same window. Her face scowled.

"He looks funny."

Patrick laughed. "That's how you looked when you were born too."

"Can we give him back?" Morgan pouted. She was supposed to be the only light in her father's eyes, and this new alien was taking that away.

"I wanted a sister, you know," she said before slipping away from him and bounding off down the hall to her grandparents…

"I need you by my side" Part Two: Sooner or Later

"I need you by my side" Part Two: Sooner or Later

Something tells me, that you and I should be together

Pete stood in the rehearsal space with his bass, grumbling as his sidekick continued to vibrate. Normally, he was always on the phone talking to people, but today he just didn’t feel like it. He didn't feel like talking to anybody. He actually didn't feel like rehearsing either, but then again he didn’t really have a choice. As he watched Patrick tune the strings on his guitar and Andy was finishing putting his kit together, he couldn't help but sigh sadly, Joe was sitting on a nearby amp, talking to his girlfriend and it got Pete thinking about how much HE wanted a girlfriend to talk to. He was tired of fighting with the one girl, tired of trying to make her understand when she clearly just didn't care, didn't want to care…

Kayli grabbed her bad and bolted for the front door, it was her first day of work and she was late. Very late, about an hour. She was hoping that everyone else was late too, so she wouldn't look that bad. This was the second tour she got to work on, but her first time with a very popular band. She couldn't think of anything hotter right now than Fall Out Boy, she also couldn't think of anyone hotter than Pete Wentz, but she knew that this was her job, she shouldn't even try to mix business with pleasure, however far fetched that idea actually is. She got inside and met the tour manager, who was happy to see her and said that everyone was running late so it wasn't a problem. Kayli was a technical person; she was going to be helping with setting up wiring with lights and equipment. It sounded boring but she loved it, she got to travel the world doing this and she was excited to be apart of the Honda Civic Tour.

Three hours later, Pete was annoying and tired, initial rehearsals really sucked. Usually the guys knew all their parts and could play them together without a problem, but today no one had their hearts in it and everyone was off. Pete handed his bass over and shut himself down, he was done for the day and just wanted to be alone. He was walking back to the exit, pulling keys out of his pocket, deciding on how he was going to occupy the rest of his day, when he ran smack into a girl.

"Dude, what the hell?" she asked, looking at Pete. Yes, he may have been beautiful and he may be famous, but he did just walk into her hard and it kind of hurt.

"I'm sorry. I'm…somewhere else. Sorry," he said as he began to walk on. Kayli rolled her eyes and sighed continuing on her route as well. Pete stopped a second later and turn to stare at this girl. It just clicked in his brain how beautiful she was; now he wanted to know why she was here.

"Wait, who are you?" he asked. Kayli stopped in her tracks and growled. Couldn't he see she was busy? She turned to him and extended a stiff handshake.

"Kayli Reed. I'm the new electrical tech," she said. He shook her hand back and gave her a once over. Kayli shifted uncomfortably under his gaze and felt herself sigh. He was sizing her up already, for what reason?

"Nice meeting you," he said, then turned a left.

"Oh, nice meeting you too, asshole. Bye," she said to the back of his head. She shook her head and turned around going back to her task of learning all of the equipment and set design the band were going to be using…

A week later, Pete found himself at the start of the tour and in the middle of more relationship problems. With the release of way to many Pete and Ashlee pictures, his on again/off again girlfriend Jeanae was fighting him even harder these days. He was sitting at the table in the front of the bus, petting Hemmingway and staring out the window when he heard talking and his thoughts were interrupted by the heavy whisper of a voice behind him.

"I don't give a fuck what you think! You have no idea how hard this is for me too, okay? Yeah, whatever. Fuck you." Pete instantly recognized the voice as Kayli's. She stopped as she saw Pete and rolled her eyes at him and he did the same to her. Hemmingway jumped off and scooted over to Kayli, plopping down on his back at her feet.

"Hey baby. You still like me right? Yes, of course you do. I pet you all day long," she said. Pete tried hard to fight a smile; it always made his pulse race when a girl got like that with his dog.

"You know, I heard that you don't sleep very often, but I kind of thought after a week like this you'd be passed out like everyone else," Kayli said not lifting her eyes from Hemmingway. Pete was shocked to hear Kayli talking to him, ever since they met, they never spoke, and it was always very tense.

"Um…no, I really do have insomnia. They didn't make it up," he said, his tone much meaner than he wanted it to be, but he couldn't help it, Kayli's tone just pissed him off.

"That's cool. I just know I'm fucking close to death here. I could just pass out," she replied, ignoring his attitude and moving off the floor, sitting down cross-legged on the huge couch, staring off into space. Kayli obviously didn't know Pete because this was his alone time, the time when everyone else knew better than to bother him.

"If you're so tired, then go to sleep," he said, this time he meant his tone to be rude; she just wasn't taking the hint.

"I can't, I just got off the phone with my…well I can't really call him my boyfriend. All I know is that he makes me crazy." Pete huffed.

"I know that feeling," he mumbled.

"Jeanae?" Kayli asked. Pete snapped his head up.

"Don't talk to me like you know anything about that," he said to her through partially clenched teeth.

"Easy, tiger. I'm just trying to make conversation."

"Yeah, well, stay out of business that isn't yours."

"Whatever," she said, turning her attention to the blank TV in front of her, "You know, you really are an asshole. I've heard stories but you really are."

"Fuck you, Kayli. You don't even know me. I just hate when people assume they know shit about my life."

"Pete, all I was trying to do what find some common ground with you. Ever since I met you you've ignored me or been rude to me. I was just trying to open conversation, but forget it. Grow up," she said standing and walking towards the bunks. Pete sighed loudly. It annoyed the shit out of him when people told him that too.

"Kayli, fine. You want to talk? Then sit. Let's talk," he said, motioning for her to sit across from him. Kayli sighed but took a seat across from Pete.

"Tell me about her, Pete," she said softly.

            "Why?"

"Because you are like this giant puzzle I'm really dying to figure out."

            "Why?"

Kayli sighed once more, this time out of pure frustration,

"Forget it! Don't tell me. I just thought since we are obviously involved in similar relationships it might be good to talk about them." Pete stared at her hard for a minute, deciding whether or not he could really trust her.

"I don't really have anything to say about her. It doesn't matter how hard I try to get it through to her she won't understand," he said. Kayli cocked her head at this statement, it sounded all too familiar. She was relieved to hear some realness come out of Pete's mouth though.

"Won't, or can't?" Pete lifted his head again to stare at Kayli.

"I really don't want to talk about this with you," he said. She rolled her eyes, basically exhausted with Pete behavior.

"I always thought you might have a little more personality than this, Pete," she added. He stood up quickly and stared down at her.

"What is your problem? I told you I don't want to talk about my personal business with you and you accuse me of lacking a personality? You obviously don't know me at all, Kayli, because if you did you'd know better then to even be bothering me right now. So, if you don't mind, I'm leaving," Pete replied, stepping away from her and heading for the back room. Kayli rolled her eyes at his immature response and decided that maybe sleeping was a good idea. She started following him, her mind shifting back onto her problems, when Pete suddenly stopped and turned to face her.

"What about you? What's with the guy you were talking to?" Kayli stepped back, surprised to hear he had turned the tables on her.

"We started out just having sex, and being friends, but then I assumed it was turning into more so when I try talking to him to figure it out he just shuts me out. It's hard to explain," she replied. Pete smiled.

"Maybe we should just date. Even though I can't stand you, you are at least relatable."  It was dark in the area Kayli and Pete were standing in, it was impossible to see each others face, but Kayli wasn't really buying that Pete couldn't stand her, in fact, she was pretty sure he found her irresistible despite all of his contradicting.

"Well, I basically hate everything about you too, Pete. You're whiny and self obsessed," she said. Pete looked up at her, wishing he could see her face; instead he stepped forward and reached his hand out, finding her cheek and pulling her lips to his. Kayli jumped slightly when she felt Pete's hand on her, surprised by this turn of events. She tensed up her body as she felt Pete's lips on hers, but loosened up slightly when she felt his other hand place itself on her thigh. Suddenly overcome with aggression, Kayli pushed at his shoulders hard enough that he stumbled backwards. Pete just grinned softly as Kayli came toward him. She shoved her body against his and kissed him harder this time, Pete groaned at this sudden aggression, his back up against the door. Kayli's mind raced as she dove her fingers under his t-shirt, pulling it up and tossing it away. Pete grabbed a fist full of her hair and pulled her head back slightly, landing his kisses across her neck. She moaned softly, it had been too long since she last could recall enjoying sex, but her mind was screaming at her to stop, this wasn't right. Pete was the artist she was working for, getting involved with him sexually was the last thing to be considered a good idea, but she couldn't stop. Pete grossed her out, she thought he was one of the whiniest and most annoying people she had ever had the misfortune of meeting, but she couldn't deny the dampness that now filled her panties. Pete was turning her on, whether she wanted him to or not. Pete moved his hands down her back and helped move her body so now she was up against the door and he pressed his hard on into her, causing both of them to groan involuntarily. Pete quickly drug her shirt over her head, attacking her newly bare flesh as soon as it was revealed. Kayli raked her fingers across the back of his head, letting her hands guide her actions. Her hands slipped down his chest to the buckle on his belt, pulling it open, and then rubbing her palm across his hard on, smiling as Pete groaned and nipped lightly at her skin. Pete pulled her away from the wall, kissing her hard, as he opened the door and pushed them backwards into the room. He shut it behind him and hastily began trying to pull Kayli's pants off, as she open his zipper and tugged his jeans down. Kayli was shocked at what she was doing now, her better judgment had completely turned off, and all she wanted was to feel Pete.

"Oh god," she moaned, feeling her panties get peeled from her body, "Pete," she said softly. He stopped and looked at her, his eyes wild. They were both completely naked now and he was wondering what there really was to say at this point. After a minute she didn't say anything, so Pete leaned in and began kissing her neck again, running his fingers across her wetness, biting her skin as he heard her gasp in pleasure. He slipped two fingers inside of her; Kayli could do nothing but toss her head back and enjoy herself. Pete pushed them backwards again, this time Kayli's back was up against the wall and Pete wasted no time with his next action, lifting Kayli's left leg and entering her.

"Oh, fuck!" Kayli yelled. She was in another world now, every nerve ending in her body was standing on edge, every inch of skin Pete touched was like a shock wave to her body. She buried her head in his neck as he continued to thrust in and out of her, lifting her other leg and Kayli wrapped her legs around his waist, Pete was holding onto her and her back kept slamming against the wall, until Pete couldn't hold her anymore and he laid down on a nearby couch, letting Kayli be on top. She dug her nails into Pete's chest, sitting down on him and feeling her orgasm fast approaching.

"Kayli, shit. I…" Pete groaned, but he couldn't find the words. Normally he considered himself to be pretty smooth in bed, but today all he could do was stare. Kayli was perfect; every inch of her body was exactly the way it should be. He hated her for weeks, now finding himself wondering why. The only thing that brought them together was a love of apparent disasters, but Pete felt something different now, being this close to her. He almost felt...his missing piece just feel into place.

"I'm coming!" Kayli alerted him, snapping him out of his trance. He too was ready, and pushed up into her one last time, shuttering as he felt Kayli twitch above him. Once the wave passed over them both, Kayli ran her fingers through her hair, not moving from her position above Pete. They were both panting, searching for the right thing to say at this moment. Kayli finally took a deep breath and climbed off Pete's lap, looking around in the dim light for her pants.

The only thing that kept repeating in Pete's mind was the word awkward, even though it was the last emotion he wanted to feel. He was still feeling that strange fluttering sensation in her stomach, knowing now that it wasn't merely the sex that was giving him that feeling. He shut his eyes quickly, taking a deep breath, wanting to talk to her about it.

"Kayli," he said, letting his eyes flutter open, but he looked around to see her no where in sight…

Prologue

Through all the lows and highs

Pete made sure that everyone on the bus was asleep before he ventured out from the back room. Las Vegas had been fun, but now he had something important to do. Without making too much noise, he carefully pulled on some nice pants and a dress coat out of his pile of clothes and tossed them on, checking quickly in the tiny bathroom mirror to make sure he was looking relatively acceptable. Quietly, Pete escaped off the bus, walking quickly down the street before coming to a corner to hail a cab.

He jiggled his foot nervously as the cab turned each corner, bringing him closer to his destination. He was really going through with this. The thought brought a smile to his face, he was nervous as hell, but more excited then he could possibly put into words. The cab stopped in front of his destination and he sighed, tossing a twenty at the driver. He shut the door and stood nervously in front of the building, now feeling a strange mix of emotions that caused him to feel scared, worried, happy and thrilled all at the same time.

He pushed the heavy front door open and peered around and the very strange array of people, looking for the one person he came here for. Finally he saw her, standing against the wall looking more radiant than he could ever recall. She was wearing an empire waisted sundress, flat ballet shoes and her brunette hair was curled lightly. She caught his eyes and he walked quickly towards her, the pull she had on him was indescribable. He carefully placed his arms around her waist and pulled her close, kissing her softly as she smiled up at him.

"Are you ready?" he asked her softly. She nodded and placed a kiss on his cheek before sliding her hand down his heavily tattooed arm and entwining their fingers together. The pair walked forward, through another room that only had two people inside.

A witness and a Justice.

The pair continued their walk, both of their hearts beating faster as they approached the alter. They stopped and turned to face each other, offering a small smile.

"We are here this evening to witness the union of these two people, Peter Wentz and Kayli Reed. Do you have the ring?"

Pete swallowed hard and nodded. He couldn't remember now. Did he actually have the ring? Did he remember the grab the marriage license before he left his L.A. home? He reached into his pocket and grabbed the ring, surprised to find his hand a little shaky. He thought this was going to be no problem, but it was turning out he was more nervous than he would admit. He placed the ring at Kayli's hand as the Justice began the vows.

"Please repeat after me: I, Peter Wentz, affirm my love to you, Kayli as I invite you to share my life.  I promise always to respect you and love you with kindness, unselfishness and trust; I will work by your side to create a life together. I take you to be my lawful wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health for as long as we both shall live."

Pete repeated as he was instructed, a smile spreading widely across his face. He carefully slid the ring down her finger and Kayli felt her pulse rise and her heart swell.

"Kayli, if you would please repeat after me: I, Kayli Reed, affirm my love to you, Peter as I invite you to share my life. I promise always to respect you and love you with kindness, unselfishness and trust; I will work by your side to create a life together. I take you to be my lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health for as long as we both shall live."

Kayli also repeated as instructed and took the other ring out of Pete's hand and carefully placed it on his finger.

"By the power invested in me by the state of Nevada, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss."

Pete flashed his winning smile and leaned forward kissing Kayli softly but passionately as he too began to fell his heart swell. The pair thanked the Justice and their witness, and turned to leave, their first time together as husband and wife.

Once they got back out to the street, they both realized what had to come next. Most think of a honeymoon as the next step, but they were on a tour, which was headed to Arizona the next day.

"I don't want to leave you," Kayli said softly as her and Pete stood on the quiet street, embracing each other softly.

"I know, but I'll see you at the next stop, tomorrow morning," he replied. She sighed, slightly annoyed.

"Yeah, I know, but I wish it didn’t have to be like this. I want to just be with you. We just got married, aren't we supposed to have crazy awesome married people sex now?" she said, looking over to him with a smile. Pete laughed a little and shook his head.

"We're getting a hotel tomorrow because we need to be in Arizona for three days. We'll have so much sex, you'll get sick of it," he replied. She leaned over and kissed him deeply before pulling away.

"Not likely. I guess this is goodbye for a few hours? I love you Pete," she said, kissing him once more.

"I love you too, Kayli. I'll see you later baby," he said. She sighed as she watched Pete slip his ring off his finger and place it on the chain around his neck. He walked to the corner and hailed a cab as he turned to see Kayli doing just the same.
